Personal Stylist's top Fashion Designers from London Fashion Week AW 2021

As London Fashion Week has come to a close I thought what better way to reflect on one of the biggest fashion events of the year than to share with you my favourite fashion designers this season.

London Fashion week 2021 was a lot different from those I’ve been used to in the past. It was a strong season at London fashion week despite troubling times the show went on. We saw designers presenting their new Autumn Winter collections digitally rather than a fashion show or presentation. It was amazing to see these brands display their collections through creative videos this season because not only were these collections beautifully crafted but the visuals were pieces of art in themselves.

Roksanda

The Roksanda ‘Friday in February’ collection was undeniably a highlight of London Fashion Week for me, with its use of stand out colour blocking, innovative use of fabrics to its beautiful story telling. I don’t know about you but I love when a brand can get me engaged on an emotional and human level especially as a woman. Showcasing the brand on a family of women in their natural environment also made me feel that the collection was almost meant for me without having to say those exact words.

The narration over this beautiful video brought me to a space of calm. It almost gave me the feeling you would get from a guided meditation, you know the kind? With the sound of sweet birds in the background along with a soothing voice guiding you to a peaceful place. It was not only beautiful to watch but it was also wonderful to hear and to me that is visual storytelling at its finest.

Emilia Wickstead

Emilia Wickstead bought us a new interpretation of evening wear in this Autumn Winter collection. The collection offered an array of refined silhouettes along with strong uses of colour. Showcasing signature pieces such as pleated jump-suits and tailored blazers, the kind of wardrobe staples I would associate with workwear or tailoring but there is great versatility in this collection, as there are a few luxe jersey pieces for women who are looking for more comfort.

As a Personal stylist myself, It’s great to see how fashion designers are making conscious decisions with their latest collections and being mindful about where we are at this time. Wickstead said she thought about ‘how we might want to dress when we can eventually go for dinner at a friend’s house’ you could say she’s almost preparing us for returning to real life.
