Not you, you are so old 🤔

I was at a bus stop in Hackney, waiting for 276, when a troubled man was passing by, not quite being able to walk in a straight line. As I overheard the dreaded “Hey, beautiful!” I turned my head to see that it was addressed to a young girl, sitting next to me. I sighed a big sigh of relief, but I didn’t remain unnoticed and luckily got my share of attention - the man turned to me and said: “Poor soul, not you, not you, you are so old”

As a girl from Eastern Europe, I’ve always hated being objectified and getting whistles and sleazy comments from groups of men while passing by. And I was SO HAPPY to get a literal confirmation that those days are over as I’m finally officially too old for comments like that.

And as my 40th birthday is rapidly approaching (it’s in December this year), I’ve decided to think of all the things I am enjoying while leaving my 30s behind. I no longer wonder around in life without direction. It took me nearly 20 years to finally choose the direction of Style Coaching. Even though I’ve been in fashion all my life, I was trying to become someone I am not. I can’t explain with words the joy I get now, every day while helping women to embrace themselves and their style. I am very lucky to be getting paid for doing something I love so much.

I came across this 2-part talk by Tara Brach which I found super insightful and helpful to use when the fear of aging kicks in:

I hope you find this useful as well!

If you know someone who might benefit from a confidence boost with the way they look, send them my way!

I’m offering 2 gift cards this year for my online services and 10% of all the proceeds are going to Whitechapel Mission who help people without homes:
