Personal Stylist shares 4 ways to wear a double-breasted blazer

Being a personal stylist I notice things. The most recent thing I’ve noticed is that there is something super annoying about single-breasted blazers - they always stretch open in the chest area, especially for women with larger busts, forcing you to only wear them unbuttoned. A double-breasted blazer or a suit jacket means that the 2 front panels overlap and usually feature 2 columns of buttons.

They always fall on your figure nicer because the fastening usually starts quite high-up on your chest. So what do you wear it with?

1. With jeans and a t-shirt - casual every day look

2. Unbuttoned, with contrasting top and trousers which match. Check the second image: the combo of a suit waistcoat matching suit trousers create an elongated silhouette, so would be great if you’d like to be perceived taller or slimmer.

3. With a turtleneck - a nod to the 70s. There is something formal and stylish about a turtleneck which you just can’t beat - it creates a very neat look - minimum amount of extra lines which makes everything flow. I wouldn’t recommend it for people with shorter neck or square chin (like mine) though.

4. Another brilliant thing about a double-breasted jacket is that you can also wear it with nothing underneath, or a low cut vest which you can’t see when the jacket is buttoned. Depending on the fabric it can be either a day look or an evening one. Thanks to a fairly low cut it makes your neck and the overall look elongated.
