5 jewellery style tips to look 10 years younger and neater

It’s all in the details.

Even the most impeccable outfit can be compromised by mismatched or ill-suited jewelry choices.

Avoid the risk of looking outdated by wearing jewellery that complements and enhances your outfit.

Check out 5 dos and don’ts on how to wear jewellery in a timeless and contemporary way:

Tip 1:

DON’T wear big chunky beaded necklaces.

I see a lot of women over 40 wearing this type of necklace.

I know it feels like a great way to bring the colour which suits you into the outfit and make your look more interesting, but it’s not the most current thing that you can wear.

INSTEAD, go for something daintier, more modern, like gold, silver or mixed metal. Look for chain necklaces, pendant necklaces.

Tip 2:

DON’T wear a necklace which runs along or next to your top’s neckline, but doesn’t quite match.

The neckline and the necklace will interfere with each other and will make the whole look messy.

INSTEAD: Opt for a contrasting length necklace. Another option would be to go for no necklace and wear earrings. Or to wear a necklace with complimenting length.

Tip 3:

DON’T avoid mixing white and yellow metals within one look.

INSTEAD: Mix gold and silver in one look It will help you get more wear out of your jewellery and you will get a nice unexpected combination.

Tip 4:

DON’T wear a matching set of bracelet + necklace + earrings.

This can look dated.

INSTEAD: Combine together different thicknesses of rings, earrings and necklaces.

You could also mix different style of jewelry, like more minimal with busier styles to create a unique look.  Or bigger pieces with smaller ones.

Tip 5:

DON’T pair a chunky necklace with a statement top.

This will make the whole look too busy.

INSTEAD: Opt for earrings to compliment the rest of the outfit.

I hope these tips are useful. What’s your favourite piece of jewellery you own?
